“Hen Felin Isaf”, The Old Mill is a converted water mill full of character magically located in the Conwy Valley, 15 minutes from Conwy and 10 minutes from Betws y Coed.
It incorporates the The Miller’s Cottage sleeping 6 and the The Miller’s Loft sleeping 2 with its own separate access and fully self-contained perfect for the larger family. You can elect to book the two together and accommodate extended family, subject to availability or simply book either The Miller’s Loft for a holiday for two or you may wish to book our cottage for up to 6 people on its own.
Unfortunately, due to the nature and location this holiday home is not suitable for disabled guests.
The Miller’s Cottage (sleeps 6) is full of character with its wonky walls, log burner and exposed original beams which we admit do creak slightly due to its age and quirkiness. It is cosy, warm and welcoming and its location beautiful with the sound of the river and woodland close by. The Old Mill is set along a very pretty lane and on arrival you cant help but feel how idyllic the locations is.
The main entrance brings you straight into the kitchen / diner. A butler sink and the taupe colours units, high gloss work top and modern appliances all come together to create a really lovely place to cook and eat. The dining room table at the far end seats six comfortably and eight if needed.
The sitting room is a great space. The main area is home to three very big and comfy sofas, a wall mounted flat screen and a log burner. The exposed beams across the ceiling combined with the french doors make this a super cosy room but with good natural light. There is a utility room with a downstairs WC.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. A double and twin have en-suites. The second double, whilst it has its own bathroom although not an en-suite but just across the landing. All bedrooms are done to a great spec and have made great use of the quirky wall configuration a beautiful old building like this offers. Carpeted throughout, the bedrooms are warm and inviting with the additional luxury of Egyptian cotton sheet to ensure a restful nights sleep, the bathrooms all have a shower, WC and washbasin.
The Miller’s Loft (sleeps 2)
The entrance onto the apartment is via a turquoise gangway that leads straight into the sitting room come dining room. Two comfy sofas, coffee table and TV in the living room area are enough as the features of the room are so bold especially the original workings of the mill water wheel. The skylights windows are complemented by low level windows so you can admire the views of the surrounding countryside. The Country style dining room table and chairs is perfect for enjoying those lazy breakfasts and evening meals. There are sections of this room that are restricted in height due to the original features, just keep in mind, especially if you are tall!
The kitchen which was originally the Miller’s Office is located through a wooden panelled wall partition, again an original feature from the mill and not a standard door height, so just be aware. The kitchen is a good size and has everything you would need and expect; all mod cons and duck egg blue coloured units set alongside oak worktop and drawers.
The bedroom is located at the other end of the sitting room. A lovely airy feel to the room with white walls, a white brass bed and William Morris print Roman blinds. The large ensuite bathroom has a beautiful tiled floor a grey coloured geometric pattern, the free standing bath and white colour scheme add to the light and airy feel in here.
